Laurie is absolutely right about the adoption process. One of the advantages of our small adoption center is the love we can give these precious animals. They are treated with the utmost respect and they are loved as if they were our own pets. We do not want them to go into a home that we do not feel comfortable with. Dawn gets to know each animal as an individual and we have a good idea of which personality type would fit into certain homes. Sometimes we have to make hard decisions, but it is always in the best interest of our little furry friends!

Last week Dawn and I were talking and she was upset because a application that we denied was writting ugly things about A New Dawn. I think she thinks I am crazy because I told her I dont really care what they think it is about the animal. This applicant claimed to have a pet but no vet and ask what kind of shots a puppy would need! Are you serious and you think we would give you this puppy. Dawn turns down applicates likely more than public shelters but we are all about finding the perfect home. I will never be ashame to be a part of this organization no matter what people say as long as we have values that effect every adoption. We realize that all our applicants really want the animal but they must realize that we have to do what we feel is best for the animal. So if you get turned down with us think about why. We will gladly consider you again if you learn from the reason we turned you down. Thanks Dawn for always putting our 4 legged friends first.

Hello, around the last of Feb. a mama had five babies in our back yard (cat). One did not make it, leaving four. Two gray tabbies, two yellow tabbies. She left them around 4 or 5 weeks I'd guess. My husband and I didn't really want anymore animals. I have two girls (cats) inside around 13 yrs old. Anyway, we couldn't stand their little starving faces and guess who started feeding. Last week, one of the gray little boys followed something or someone off. I can't find him. That leaves me with two boys and one girl. I haven't taken them to a shelter, I couldn't stand the thought of being caged with a lot of other cats. I have wormed them and treated for fleas. Do ya'll take in babies or adopt out only? Two of them, gray boy and yellow girl are holdable and tame. That leaves one yellow/white boy, who very much wants to talk, but scared of his own shadow. I don't know what I can do? Any ideas? Thanks much, Linda

I just wanted to drop in and tell you how great Bob is doing. We renamed him Howie due to the fact my uncle who passed from brain cancer was named Bob and i didnt want my Aunt to get emotional everytime i called my dog. Howie is doing wonderful. He loves to chew on his doggie bones and play. He is also my little lap dog. He like to get in my lap during the day and watch tv. SPOILED he is!! lol I am so glad to have adopted him from you and one day i plan on coming back and adopting another. But that is off in the future. Thank you so much for letting me adopt Howie(Bob), I love him so much!

I LOVE DAUSCHUAD DOGS. WE HAD TO PUT DOWN OUR BEST FRIEND,KATIE MUCHELLE ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. WE HAD THIS VERY SPECIAL FRIEND AND BUDDY FOR ALMOST 13 1/2 YEARS. IT IS SO HARD ON ME PERSONALLY WHEN I SEE A "weiner" DOG. WE HAD OUR HAPPY TIMES, SAD TIMES, AND, OF COURSE GOOD TIMES TOGETHER.
JUST WANTED YOU TO KNOW IF THERE IS EVER A RED WEINER COME IN AND NEEDS ADOPTION WE MIGHT CHECK INTO THIS. OUR VET DR. MEDFORD KNOWS HOW WELL WE TAKE CARE OF OUR PETS. SHE HAS BEEN MY VET FOR MANY YEARS. YOU CAN REACH US BY MY EMAIL.
THANK YOU.

Just wanted to say again, how much we love Princess. We have a magazine that has a Westin Terrier picture and it looks just like her. She loves to play and has a number of toys. She loves a treat each day and loves to go walking outside. She sleeps good. I thank God for helping us find your shelter, New Dawn, and for all of you who help the animals. Love, Gloria and George PS: sometimes we call her Westie, she looks so much like the dog in the picture even has the brown beard. Keep up your good work, Happy Easter

i was tryin to adopt a dog from this shelter, i have kids it was gonna be ourfirs dog an cuz of that fact i dont have a vet reference so tey denied us. i could go an get a pure breed dog but i want to help the pet population. i think they should refer people to a vet. an istead of some of the silly ?s they ask on the app. they should be askin weather people can afford these pets cuz aint that the reason animals r abanden in the first place. obivously they r not tring to help these animals cuz they wuld have refered us to a vet instead of deneying uscuz we dont have a vet.

I wanted to tell you Miss Dawn how much we appreciate what you do for all of those sweet animals. I am Princess new mom and we love her very much. She is so sweet and playful and loving. She is truly a precious dog. She is adjusting very well to our lifestyle. I most admire the way you have made homes for all of these dogs and taught them how to go to bed at night and listen to classical music. You are a light in this world, may God bless what you are doing for these animals always. Sincerely, Gloria Greenwood

So when you are an animal lover the first thing you have to promise your husband is that you will not bring home all the animals from the shelter if you are a volunteer. I made that promise and like all of the volunteers I broke that promise when the 4 month old Dash hound puppy arrive. So yes Dawn you can mark him adopted. He is the center of the world in the Dodson house. He is crazy about Lauren and Charles may say he does not want 3 dogs but who is holding him when I come home each day! Daisy and Oscar ( our dogs) are pooped by 8PM but it was a good day of play! Each day at the shelter is well worth it even if you never take an animal home because saving animals lives and finding homes is what we are all about. But taking one home is the ultimate reward for all the hours we spend and give. I guess the truth is exactly what we are taught You get what you give in life. Dash is great puppy and Dash Dodson will have a long and wonderful life in our home. Thanks Dawn! He is the best !
